Active Living Journal

...December 5,
Today I went climbing with Envoe.  I was actually suposed to go tomorrow but I cam't because the principal from Forest Lawn is coming to talk to the GATE classes.  Last week a fell on my wrist and twisted it so I was slightly worried about rock climbing because it still hurt.  I told Mr. Miller and he said that if I wanted to I could go and try and if I wanted to stop I could so I went.  I've actually gone rock climbing before a few times at a camp but it was outdoors and slightly different.  I also have never belayed someone before, the camp staff did that but i figured that it can't be difficult and it really wasn't as long as you always held onto the rope.  Though belaying was tiring, climbing was even more tiring.  The wall we(Sultana and I) started on was really tough once you got to a certain spot and there weren't that many rocks but we kept on trying.  Eventually we decided to switch walls and the new wall was a lot easier, and the rocks were easier to grip.  Once we both made it to the top of the wall we decided to try a different wall but my wrist was starting to get really sore so I let Sultana climb for the rest.  Then it was time to go back to school for lunch.  I had a really great time and hope to go back again soon.

December 6 and 8,
On the 6th and 8th, I went to basketball tryouts because I thought that it would be fun to tryout and it was though it was hard.  I enjoyed trying out and had a lot of fun and would have liked to be on the team just to play more but I wasn't expecting to make the team at all because I'm definitly nowhere near the best and not to my surprise, I didn't make the team but it didn't bother me because liked the tryouts even though they were tough and there were a lot of people that wanted to make it more than me.

December 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 15, and 22,
Every Thursday and one weekend a month a have band practise and yes, it does have to do with active living because I'm not in any band, I'm in a marching band which means that we march in parades and we also march a field show.  Though we are not doing this yet, we are actually doing marching basics which is when we go over technique and it might actually be more difficult because of this.  Also, I'm in guard so are rehearsals are always involing a lot of movement, dancing and spinning.  It can be very hard sometimes but its so much fun and performing is great.  I wouldn't give it up for the world.  On the 6th and 7th I had a dressrehearsal and a christmas concert which were great but the prepping for the concert was very difficult and demanding... everything had to be perfect.
